GRADUATE STUDIES WITH A FOCUS ON NEUROSCIENCES IN BASEL

Depending on your Master degree please follow one of the following links:
With a Master in Molecular Biology (or corresponding Master; details below) you will continue your studies at the Faculty of Natural Sciences to obtain a PhD in Neurobiology
With a Master in Psychology you will study neuropsychology at the Faculty of Psychology and obtain a PhD in Psychology
With a Master in Medicine: To obtain a MD PhD

Graduate Ph.D. Program in Neurobiology
The Biozentrum of the University of Basel offers an international, interdisciplinary graduate program in Neurobiology. Other main fields of research at the Biozentrum are: Biochemistry, Biophysical Chemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Microbiology, Pharmacology, Structural Biology and Bioinformatics.
Admission requirements for entry into the program include a good academic record and an undergraduate degree recognized by the University of Basel.(e.g. Master in Molecular Biology). Ph.D. students are paid a salary as part time assistant; the amount is according to the guidelines of the Swiss National Science Foundation.
Requirements for obtaining a Ph. D. in Neurobiology at the University of Basel
A total of 12 credit points (CPs) is required. 9 CPs have to be obtained from the lecture cycle B “Neuroscience”; 3 CPs may be obtained by other courses, workshops or by tutoring.
A written dissertation (in English or German) on a neuroscientific topic has to be completed
An oral examination on the topic of the dissertation
Duration of the Ph.D. studies is typically 3-4 years.
